I came across a Cat 955F which is offered within budget.
Serial mentions 45A960 made in Great Brittain.
Can you guys give me an indication of the year and anything specific to look for prior buying?
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Nico
1963 model, direct drive, oil clutch, D330 engine, 70 hp........OK but the early D330 was not one of Cats better engines.
There were loads of them in my catchment area back then, good strong machine with diagonal braced track frames that did stay in place and not break up like the 12 & 60As, as for the engines there were no worse than the others of that era and better than a lot,you could sure hear them running with a straight exhaust which seemed to be standard at the time, built on the Farkas frame principle like the 933 it was not easy to work on the gearbox.I would not be afraid to buy one and anything thats wrong within the power train will show when you drive it about not like a powershift that might appear alright when its cold and not move when warmed up,everything is manual on that machine, dry brakes and steering clutchs, wet main clutch that gave great service, hydraulics reliable, all in all a good machine.
