Wot to see in Melbourne

Hello Aussie Cousins (yep, we're all related when I'm after something)

I'm going to be in Melbourne (and surrounds) for a few days next week, are there any interesting machinery displays with lots of "Cats" that I should go miles out of my way to see ??

I'll have SWMBO with me, so will have to limit any excursions to fairly breif events unless there is some shopping close . . . .

PS we are going up to see Ballarat, and Bendigo, and do the tourist thing there, and I also want to see Ned Kellys armour, but that little lot will be about my limit of tourist stuff, no disrespect to any other visitor attractions.
