Several of us met at the ranch to move all of the equipment that has begun to permanently reside there all year long, to a line up so it wouldn't be scattered randomly all over the field. With temperatures reaching up to 105 degrees, the start time was called out between 7:00 and 7:30AM. Deas figured out how to start and move the dragline (ask him about shutting the engine down), and Tom's 966 made handiwork out of moving a lot of the pieces. The 966 push started the DW-20 and DW-21, a few tractors, and moved the dead motor graders all into the lineup. Garlic Pete got the Cat 769 haul truck running plus a lot of his other equipment. The Ghilotti Cat 793 haul truck and the Cat 660 Scraper are the only pieces left out in the big field. Steve and Travis Hansen were there to help along with Chris (1H D-😎 and the rest of the GP team.

Hi, Folks.
Thanks to all who helped get the machines, both dead and running, sorted and parked in some sort of order. Many hands, the 966 and Tom's skid steer made light work of 'gittinnerdunn'.

Thanks also to Paso Bob for the photos.

Re killing the dragline engine, the kill lever is separate from both the ignition switch and the throttle and was hidden by a rather dirty window that was slid back over it. I eventually found it by tracing its connecting cable back from the engine - - - after Chris and I had managed to kill the engine at the engine end of said cable.

Hey Deas,

Regarding the shut off lever, I showed you how to do that and you must not have been listening! 😊

Actually, it was not until the second day I ran it up there that I found the kill lever, again by following the cable. Glad you were able to get it moved.

Garlic Pete and I had a conversation about moving everything out there while we were back in Peoria. Maybe at the end of the day, he took one of the 38 low boy loads that he told me he needed to run, back with him to Bakersfield. What a fine fellow!

PB- thanks for posting the pictures!

Hi, Jan Meermans.
Maybe I didn't listen very well but it DIDN'T take me until MY second day on it to find that danged kill lever. LOL.

Yep, GP did take ONE of the low boy loads with him. Well. at least his mate, Joe, took one load back with him on his low boy as GP didn't have his low boy there.

The field looks a LOTTTT neater now. There is supposed to a be a low boy coming to pick up the lone 'travellin' tea kettle' remaining out in the field. Then there will be just a mere D9H a-settin' there lookin' all lonely 'n' neglected - maybe somebody oughta take pity on it and move it over with all its m8s.

A 793 truck? A 250 ton haul truck is there. Maybe a misprint.

Hi, dpan.
Was it Bobby Darin back in the 1960s who sang the song, Multipilcation, about the mating habits of various species of critters, including us 'hyoomuns'? Seems numbers can too.
