Went and pickup another d2 early this morning.
The last one we bought we had to load it with a come along. It took us 3 hrs,but we finally got it on.
So I was told by my grandkids they would'nt help on the next one unless we had another way of loading it.
I had a 9000 lb ramsey winch that I took off my jeep 3 or 4 years ago.
I decided to install it on the front of the trailer.
When we got to the cat we pulled it 10' or so to break it loose.
I at first was going to try to pull it on with single line, but decided to block it.
I'm glad I did.I'm not sure it would have pulled it up with a single line.
Anyway,pony seems good,brakes and steering clutches work,but main is stuck,how bad,don't know.
I'll prob pull the head.
We had that thing loaded in 5 minutes.
The difference between the winch and the come along?
About 2 hrs and 55 min LOL.
Here are a few pic's of the day.

Hey I feel for you I used a comealong to load my D2 I took the blade off first and it took me about 2.5+ to load mine with 3 grown men to run the comealong. I did get mine home Main froze and am now having the head redone. Good luck with yours.

I think it took closer to 3.5 hrs to come-a-long mine up onto the trailer because of the frozen brakes. Me and a small boy did it using grease on square tubing to slide the tracks.

I hope I've done all the come-a-long recoveries of dead machinery I'll ever do😄

212 grader steep uphill onto gooseneck trailer over the ramps and dovetail, 2 men and strong boy, 2 come-a-longs and a winch. I couldn't find a dry stitch of clothes anywhere when we finally got it bound down and got up the hill to get out of that "holler". Picture looked like the grader was beside a road in the weeds, a LEVEL road! Man was I ever mistaken! I found out that the owner had never had it running, He had it delivered up on the county road that ran along the front of his property, and had someone shove him off rolling down the hill to try to crank it. When he got close to the bottom and was going to wind up in front of his shop door if he kept going, he stopped and put it up for sale! Lucky for me the decompression lever was pulled the whole time! 😄

D69U with blade onto lowboy up ramps and over the dovetail, 4 men and 3 pretty good hand winches (better than your usual come-a-long). I messed around and let the neighbor's running D6 get sold so we couldn't shove it on the trailer. I was really wishing for Swishy's wicked winch by the time it finally broke over the top of the dovetail onto the flat across the axles.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

One thing I learned real quick after I got the old crawler bug was that winching dead iron usually happens more often that not.😊 The only crawler I've ever hauled home without having to winch on a trailer is my old 5J, all the others were in tough shape. This picture is my 5U7066 after we got it home. Didn't run, main spring broken, heavy blade to keep chained up, right side final drive broken and binding, rails worn out, and all the bottom rollers on the right side without flanges. We winched it on and off the trailer taking about 4 hours each direction. Every time it moved the right side track tried to come off the sprocket, it was more work keeping the track on than it was pulling the come along. My friends, I'm afraid there's no hope for us...😄 🙄

just use your photo editor to resize the pics--get the width under 800 pixels and it should post

I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
