Tomorrow i will be buying a D4 # 7U27391 , the parts book i have is for 7U27570 to 7U44307 . Will this parts book work for my machine or will there be quite a few differences? Ive been looking around and cant find one that covers the right serial number. I am also wondering if all the 7U service manuals are the same or if there is a certain one i should get for the machine ? Your answers are appreciated . Thanks
Kyle

Kyle - Buy the correct part book that covers your S/N or you will likely end up with wrong parts when you order them. Engineering design changes were constant, and many design and part changes were subtle.

A D4 7U repair manual will be adequate for your tractor, however there will be slight changes to later issues.
If your tractor has an oil clutch, you will need the oil clutch repair supplement for the early manual.
Oil clutch repair info is in the later versions of the service manual.

I find it useful to have both manuals 7U1-27569 and the 27570 to 44307. Allows you to see the upgrades and in some cases gives you more options for replacement parts.

Kyle, I just did a check on the "new" oil clutch Service Bulletin for the D2 and D4, and the SB states the oil clutch can only be fitted from tractor S/N 7U29734.

The orginal D4 parts catalogs for 7U's are very difficult to acquire, they are in high demand. The early 7U parts catalog seems to be the hardest to find.

would be nice to have a good runner and a parts machine , sure would help when something breaks . The guy that owns the other one i want for parts wants way to much money for it, but it may be worth it instead of trying to find and buy expensive new parts.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
