Probably some difference in brackets and drive shaft, but the units are the same. The same unit on a D2 actually puts out more GPM because of a tad higher rpm on the D2 than the D4.

6W and 7W are 37 gpm on a D4 (1400 rpm)
8W and 9W are 25 or 27 if on a D2 (1525 rpm)
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Hi Tim,
below are the specs for the 44 Hyd Control Units from Form No12914-2, dated 9-56, titled :- Servicemen's Reference Book for Hydraulic Controls and Equipment.
Hope this helps.
I am not sure what mounting hardware---brackets, drive shaft, linkages and lines, hoses and etc--- may be different between the D4 and the D2 but the units with the correct size pump do fit.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

The basic #44 unit is the same and will fit. That being said, the GPM of the pump is usually quite a bit higher on the D4 pump, (different cartridge that is not directly interchangeable with a D2 cartridge) the input shaft is different, mounting brackets different, control levers different. So yes it can be done, if you can find or make the parts you need ,but you would be better off if you can find one from a D2.

looking at the D2 and D4 side by side....ditto above...there are a lot of differences with mounts etc. Perhaps swapping the guts (pump) is therefore the best way to go?
