I've got a 977 20A with a D318 engine and cannot for the life of me find an online parts catalog for this. I prefer to look up my own parts most other machines I've delt with seems like you can go all over the place and look stuff up.

Are there any sources for online parts and catalogs for these or do I need to call the caterpillar dealer and have them look it up or buy a parts catalog off of Ebay?

Part of the problem(pun intended) is I don't think all of the machine is orginal for instance it has glow plugs in it which I don't think were stock, was just trying to find some sealing washers and an injector hold down nut.

I got lucky on the glow plugs they had a part number stamped on them.

do the injector hold down nuts seal off at the bottom? Top o ring supposed to just keep crud out of threads?

try ebay or swapmeets for a parts book i got mine on ebay.

the glow pugs on yours may have been an optional extra or a add on from a later machine. many cat machines are bitsers a bit of this one a bit of that one.

mine originally was a farm crawler and was later converted to a dozer and later still had a winch adapted to it. a lot of cat machines use common parts. depending on its age you may be able to use parts.cat.com or just ring your local dealer they often have access to the vintage parts catalog.
if you get a parts book you can do part no searches on the cat parts site.
