Hello,

I need to know where one can purchase a carb kit and float for the Zenith (7935C) carburetor that is on my 1938 D2 pony motor.

Any Ideas out there?

Thanks
Jim

Check the top of your carb ,and see if it has a little round tag on it .Take the numbers on the tag to a good auto parts store ,and they should be able to match a kit to your numbers .
Also parts still maybe available form a cat dealer if you have a parts book to get the cat numbers .

7935C is the number on the tag. I have called Cat, I have called Zenith and others and it's like this never exsisted or it's obsolete. But yet a guy on ebay rebuilds them, so part have to be available somewhere.

Jim,
There are a few wear parts that are not in the carb kits, such as bushings, that have to be made if there is too much wear.

I had mine rebuilt at Farmer's Service (http://www.farmersserviceinc.com/carbrebuild.htm). Expensive, but they do a first rate job.

Hi Jim,
I believe that some John Deeres have pony engines with similar carbs and that they have parts kits.

Tried the Search here but could not find the info from past posts on this subject. Someone listed the kit P/No's from the JD Dealer.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.

Check with your local John Deere dealer, the diesel 720 and 730 used the same Zenith carb. If you're real lucky and find a friendly parts guy he can print out a copy of the carb breakdown. .handy for ordering parts. It's been several years but as I recall, the gasket kit was fairly cheap and that long thin tube that often gets stuck and broken was around $17.

None of my part numbers for the John Deere kit come up as valid anymore (AR13005R). Here is an e-bay listing for the carb kit , not mine and purely for informational purpose's.

Here is the current John Deere part number for the Zenith TU-4C carb. This is the kit for the D2 D4 D6 pony carb. If you have any of these tractors please take note of this part number and keep in safe place. So if you need a kit you will have the info handy.

John Deere RE528699

It was about $20 last time I bought one. Or you could pay more and get one of Ebay.

Part number RE528699 comes back as" Gasket set, Zenith carburetor for $17.93". RE528697 is Kit, Carburetor, Zenith for $272.85.

I cannot say what is in each kit. You can see what the one on e-bay contains.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
