so I think I am going to call this cat sensuous. it seem to be a case of since you was doing this I may as well....
anyhow I dropped the belly pan to clean it out and change the oils and I noticed a leak from the cover in tge picture
so I took it off and made a new gasket and reinstalled it and managed to breat the cover. I have repaired it and now having a better look at things I am wondering if
it is supposed to use the gaskets as shims to preload a bearing
it is the clean one of course

according to my parts manual, there is only a gasket between that cover and the housing behind it. the housing behind that cover shows having shims to set the endplay clearance of the shaft. those are roller bearings, not tapered cone bearings. your picture is also looking up from the bottom as the input shaft should be on top. just in case anyone else is trying to orientate the shafts correctly to chime in.

gasket number is 7b4570,

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
