What year are these two 40 scrapers? The first one is 1W5134 and the second one is 1W5744. The first one is one that my brother and I are most likely going to have by the end of the year. The second is one that a friend of ours has. I would also like to know exactly what years the 40 scrapers were produced and how many were made in that time. One last thing, does any know how many are still around. I know of several people who have one like Jim Gangle and Lou Mcmaster. Thanks, Josh.

Tecnically they are half mine and half my younger brothers except for the D4400 power unit which is all mine.😄 We have grown up around machinery and we were allways working on something from the time we could hold a wrench. We also have several parts tractors. We are very proud of our collection as are all collectors. I have aquired a lot of inforation on these machines at young age of which I'm greatful. I learned a lot on here on the BB over the past several years reading posts. We've been fortunate to get a lot of it at good prices and also some has been given to us.😊 I would still like to know what year these pans are specificly if any body knows. Thanks, Josh.

1W5134 was manufactured in 1950; 1W5744 in 1956 Take note that at S/N 1W5664 changes were made that updated wheels and tires. Wheels changed from bolt on rim to integral cast rim and tires changed from 11.00 x 20 tube type to 12.00 x 21 tubeless. The later 21" tubeless tires are impossible to buy new or used. Compare wheels/tires in the attached photos.

OM or KCB,

Would you (or anyone) hazard a guess on what a #40 is worth, providing it's complete and perhaps only needs tires, paint and some misc. TLC? I understand that the later model 21" tubeless tires and cast rims are a problem.😮

I think a neighbor has a #40 that I've been eyeing for several years from the road. It just sits out in his yard (never being moved). It's parked near his RD4 and an early production D4. The latter he uses once a year or so with a disc and wheeled box scraper for weed control. I'll have to get a closer look someday.

I keep telling the Mrs. that #40 would complement my D46U!😊 (I didn't mention the her the little details about modifying the Hydraulic Unit to 2 spools and adding a surge tank.😄)

It sure would be nice to have an idea what the max $$ it might be worth!

John
