New cushions are too rich for my blood, so I'm looking for the spring/wire skeleton of a seat that I can rebuild for my D2 5U tank/seat. I'd like it to be priced as the derelict that it is. Anyone have one?

Jim,
Try contacting the companies on E-Bay that sell the D2 seats. I am sure they would sell you any part you want and it most likely will be "cost effective".

Have a good day....Bill

Apparently, the eBay folks don't make the cushions, just sell them.

Still listening....

I have been fortunate to find some old truck seats and cushions to keep my D2 and D4 farm Cats going. Not stock but functional enough. The wife is sending my 8C Twenty seats to her upholsterer along with some material she bought. We shall see what that ends up costing.

Jim

The economy way is make your own.Start with a good piece of plywood,a old mattress and canvas or vinyl. Build the foam and other padding up to the height you want cover with canvas and fold corners like wrapping a package us a staple gun or even roofing nails to the plywood. The high dollar seats don't have springs anymore they are all just foam rubber as well. How good it looks depends how well you wrap packages.

OK. I'll work on finding materials. Wonder if my daughter would notice if I cut a chunk out of her mattress--she's living in a dorm at the moment...

Default Seat Cushions

An inexpensive alternate , use foam carpet padding and 3M spray adheasive to make the thickness that is disired for the cushions. Then cover with desired material. Works pretty well !

Ray is right! I bought 2 inch high density foam and black vinyl fabric for $26 for the back cushion on my d4-use staples to secure it to the plywood

Not sure how to take that. I was a supporting member back in the 1990s? when the principal effort of ACMOC was its newsletter and meet schedule.

Back on topic, I found a couple of free couch cushions today and have one cut to size for the seat.

So, dpendzic, where did you buy the vinyl to cover your back rest?

That sound's like what I should look for.

Neil, "John?"

Monserandsons, how did Albany get in the equation?
