Is Traveller HD SAE 30 Motor Oil from Tractor Supply ok to use in my 1961 D6B dozer? They don't show the whole specifications on line. I haven't gone to the store yet to actually read the label. The price is $44.99 for 5 gallons.

Probably better than what was made when the dozers was new. Look closely at the bucket at the store, there is a "Heavy duty" 30 wt oil they sell that's not diesel engine rated. You don't want that!
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

The age of your D6B plus your climate, I would go for SAE 40 WT. if they have it. We run 40 WT. AND 2 quarts of Lucas oil treatment our 1960 D6B in Texas. My brother is the second owner of this machine and we know the engine has never been overhauled!

change it often if you do as the traveller house brand is economy at best

It's a good flush out oil

I think API classification is more important than the SAE viscosity grade

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
