Owner said he thinks it's a late 1950's D4. He does not have the serial number.

Looks like a 7U D4 with a 5 roller track frame. The blade lift mechanism looks like a home made inside the track frame affair.

Yikes -- looks pretty sad. Pictures do not tell the whole story, look carefully, remember what you have experienced with the 977! How long has it been sitting without exhaust pipes covered or having been operated? Galvanized Water Pipe and Unions on the hydraulics? The "cage" is definitely little protection, appears fastened to fenders and top radiator tank? As BP said, the dozer looks like homemade contraption, that being said, one should be very observant of any track frame, undercarriage concerns. Track appears to be well buried, access the condition of track, sprockets, rollers. The engine, starting engine, radiator/cooler, clutch and steering frictions - water intrusion? Freeze damage? Oil conditions in all compartments? End play in the starting engine crankshaft - is it free or frozen. Main engine free (turns)?- GOOD LUCK -- cts

Yeah, the uncovered exhaust is my main concern. Apparently it was running about 8-10 years ago, but if the exhaust wasn't covered, I'm sure it's stuck.

Thanks for the input.
