Thinking of making an offer to buy a D7 17A looks like the one in the photo below (not actual photo). Missing radiator screen and has a big (put your fist in) hole in the radiator core. Owner says it ran 7-8 years ago. 2 remote live power hydraulics. Direct start. Good undercarriage 85-90%. So what is the value? -Thanks

Since it looks like the one in the pic, I suppose it does not have a blade, hardnose, rear cable control, or blade trunnions.

Strictly a tow tractor. Could possibly be used with a plow or hydraulic scraper. As a tow tractor, it likely was not subjected to the shock and awe of a dozer, so that is definitely a good thing.

Is the serial number above 14000? Do you know any of the tractor's history, or why it is for sale? Any water in the crankcase? Will the starter spin the engine?

In running condition I would say $6500 would be a ballpark value at our location in Texas. Figure what you can stand for freight. I would guess about $2000 to fix the radiator and grille and change fluids and filters. Worse case if the engine is bad you may sell the undercarriage/track group and part out/scrap the rest and not lose much more than your time.

Good luck with it. Get it bought and show us some pics.

Best regards,
Thomas

I'm trying to buy this 17a from my neighbor for just a little over scrap value and everything works on this tractor and it runs strong. If your like me and buying just for the fun of it thats all it's worth. But if I needed a nice piece of equipment to get the job done then it's worth more.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
