What engines go with what model Caterpillar machine?

Recently, someone was advertising his desire to purchase an 8800 engine, and the question was if that was the engine for the model. I dug through my paper archives and found two documents that I got off the old ACMOC bulletin board in 2002 - about 10 years ago. One is a list someone made (2 pages). I wish I had recorded who posted it. Also is a copy of a thread (3 pages) on the same topic; most imformative. I hope you find this handy. Perhaps it would be good to print it out and save it.

A really good list should also include the Industrial, Genset and Marine applications as well and now that we're up to the 70's, road engine should also be included. Except for the early models I consult the Rack Setting Charts for engine applications.

Uploading order of pictures has been an ongoing issue ever since the "UPGRADE" that lost that feature and the guru's can't seem to figure it out.
