Hello Nico,
With that serial number it should indeed have been a D311 originally, according to my book the F series became the G series at serial #6164 when the D320T replaced the D311. If the engine was replaced it would seem logical to put a D320 in it...yet all D320's were turbocharged. :confused2:
Hello Nico, I had a machine that was a 42A5212, very close to yours. Mine was a 1964 and did have a D311 engine just as rusted said. It is a different D311 than the D2's. I am not sure why they made the designation the same. I have the book, just have to get it later today with the data. I have a few NOS rebuild parts if you need them. If there are other specs you need, let me know and I will get those as well.
Best of luch, Peter.
The 933f did not come with turbo. The 933G had the turbo, wider track spacing and other changes. I have both. The 933f is for parts to keep 933g going. Take the covers off the the track springs you will probably find the track support broken. Better grease the front ujoints on the hydraulic pump drive. They are hard to get to and you will not find a replacement part anywhere. Ebay has shop manuals and parts books. Any other questions, just ask. I have learned the hard way.
John
Saw your comment on the u-joints.
Here is some aftermarket info that might help....
CR Services u-joint #UJ870 (outside lock rings)
4-plain round ends
7/8" dia. bearing od
overall width 2-1/2"
Original Equipment supplier - Rockwell L10N
This is for the 42A's
11A's to 11A3653 use the same size but lock rings are on the inside. (#UJ861)
Hello All,
Thanks for your answers.
I understand it is a different engine than th earlier D311 from D2 5U.
The engine looks very similar withmy CAT D320 apart of the turbo which is absent on this one.
As it is also a 4"x 5"engine, I assume valve lash is simi;ar to my D320: 0.015 for the inlet and 0.025 for the outlet valves measured with engine hot.
Please confirm?
Thanks again,
Nico
You are correct. Valve lash is the same for the second generation D311.
