I've just picked up an Armstrong Wrench here in the UK, marked 4B-7617. When I asked around I got this feedback;

"4B-7617 wrench number is a Caterpillar part number. My data source does not show which Cat models it was used on. The FSN is 5120-423-9412. The unit price in 1955 was $2.00"

... but now I'm trying to pin down what the wrench does, and what machine it was issued for. Anyone know?

The 4B7617 is used in conjunction with 4B7618. They are used for fuel injection pump lifter adjustment on engines with forged body fuel injection pumps. Lifter height is set with the 4B7617 (fits over the yoke) and the lock nut is tightened with the 4B7618.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
