Hello, I am wondering if the pony motor starter on a D7E 48A is sealed and considered to be a wet starter? If I have it overhauled does in need to be sealed from oils that come from the ring gear/bell housing of the pony motor? Pony Motor is a 12 volt Delco # 1107213 D7E 8, (this is stamped in the Delco Tag). Thank You.

The only seal involved is part of the front motor bearing assembly and would be replaced as part of a standard rebuild.
There is also a mounting flange gasket.

Thank You Old Magnet! Have the pony starter motor out and am cleaning it up and noticed the ring gear is in oil! One step at a time.
