Hi, I am new to ACMOC bulletin board. I am trying to acquire my first crawler. Can anyone give me an educated guess at the weight of a Cat 22 with blade and a D2 with blade?

Am I stupid to try and tow a Cat 22 with my Toyota Tundra 4.7L. V8? I would have about 200 miles and have to cross the Cascade mountains. Owners manual gives, after subtracting vehicle weight of 5,100#, a maximum trailer and cargo weight of 6,700 pounds.

Also what constitutes the undercarriage especially when stated as "undercarriage 50%".

A bare 22 weighs around 5500lbs to 6000 lbs depending on how it is equipped. Depending on the size and style of blade you could be adding another 1000lbs or so. In my opinion, you would really be better off pulling this load with a heavier rated vehicle. Its not the power that concerns me, it is the braking effort.

I just weighed my D2- 5U with a toolbar dozer and it tipped the scale at 9200#.
Mine doesn't have a belly pan or rock guards or any thing else on it. It does go on my 28 ft. gooseneck with tandem 7000# axels,(14,000#total) and my Dodge Cummins hauls it around quite well...

Thanks for the weight on your D2. I guess that I shouldn't have been so hasty buying a 1/2 ton truck!
