Hey Team,

Can someone tell me the weight of a 49a-162 with a hydraulic dozer and a safety canopy on it. Just a draw bar on the back. What year is it?
Thanks
Glen

Hi, Glen.
Just guessing but I think it would be in about the same ball park as the M47. I did a search for the specs on the 'net but it came up missing.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Got one sources that says 60,000 lbs, another says 70,000 lbs.
That's for bare tractor. I tend to believe the lower number.

parts book says 61800 bare with fluids. That may not include belly pans, roller guards. Blade should be a bit more than 10000. Canopy depends on how heavy duty it is.

66,025 lbs. This was in 1956 so I'm not sure if it's the same as your 1959 model. I have no idea how the test tractor was equipped, but I would assume bare.

Hope this helps

Hey Team,

I'm going with 60,000 bare, around 3000 canopy, and 15,000 blade. So 78,000 to 80,000 lbs. let me know if anybody has specs.

Another source (Caterpillar Performance Handbook) says basic machine weight of 59,837 lbs. Build up on 60,000 lb base sounds right to me.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
