Good morning,
Once again I must tap the vast knowledge of the membership. Can someone please tell me the weight of a D9 18a with cab, #29 ccu, and 13 ft straight blade. Thanks.

When I brought my 19A home, we weighed it on the scales and subtracted the truck and trailer weight. It has 9S dozer with Hyd tilt, 30 front CC,No. 50 hyd control ripper with two shanks, Medford ROPS, bellypan. Weight =95,000 lbs. Hope this helps. I have noticed that the weight in the book vs. over the scale weight with other Cats is weigh off, maybe it is the amount of dirt in the belly pans.

While we are talking about D9's, I spent three hours getting the mag to fire. Getting one of the screws out of the cap is a real challenge. Then you better mark the roter position carefully to get it timed right when you put it back, as it must come off to barely get to view the points. After burnishing the points and putting it all back together three times, I pulled the mag out where I could do a desent job and re set the gap. Put it back and ran better than ever. The point here is that if you rotate the engine slowly through the compresson until the mag fires and then back up just a bit, the points stay open and no corrossion happens. Keep in mind that this pony has both rod throws on the same side, later models they are opposite. On the 2U, you have to pull it through the second compression very slowly to do the same thing-keeping the points open. I have done this on the 2U and it started right up after sitting all winter. You folks in dry country don't have a clue what we get in rain country where at times the whole tractor swets even in a shed. Have to drain the winch every year and it sees zero rain in the shed. firpitch
