Its a D2 3j 1938 model. I have the diesel tank and the main fuel line off and cleaned (muratic acid).
I want to clean the injectors and the fuel pump and fuel filter housing too. Can one use gasoline to flush the pump (not the injector pump) and filter housing? What I would do is remove the filter lid and pour gasoline (or a better substitute) in and would it drain out the bottom where the main fuel line attaches?
Is this a good way? There is a lot of old diesel that is now like tar and cement. Remember this has sat since the '50s.
The injectors: are there rubber o-rings to be concerned about in there?
I ask these questions becasue the Cat is 120 miles away. It's kinda like NASA building a Space Station...you have to prep and hope you have all the info you need prior to launching out. Or you may waste a trip.
Save your self a lot of grief and expense and have an equipment mover with a flat bed and winch bring it home. Shouldn't cost more than about three hundred Dollars.

I agree with Chuck. If you're trying to get it running so you can load it onto a trailer, just use a trailer with a Winch, or push it on with another tractor. If there is no other tractor available where it is you might have to bring one along too.
Trying to get these things to fire after 50 years is much better done at your shop, not 120 miles away. There are all sorts of little problems that will pop up and even an Eagle Scout won't be prepared enough to tackle them all out in a field somewhere.
Just get it home, then you'll have plenty of time to get it running with the convenience of having all your tools and supplies right there when you need them.👍
