As some of the users of this bulletin board may have noticed, the terminology for participation on this bulletin board have been modified. In an effort to build awareness and increase club membership, the user ranking titles have been updated to reflect whether a user is a paid ACMOC club member or a registered (non-paying) bulletin board user.

For the last few years, if you are in fact a paid-up ACMOC club member, your identifier has indicated "ACMOC Member" under your handle. If your dues have expired or you have never been a paid member to the club, your title had previously been one of three possible options: "Junior Member" with posts 0 through 29, "Member" with posts 30 through 99, and "Senior Member" with posts 100 and above. These titles have led to some confusion with some assuming that they are now members of the club. This is not true. Instead, these titles were to indicate you were a member of the community. Only dues-paying club members received the title "ACMOC Member."

Now, those who are dues-paying club members will still have the "ACMOC Member" nomenclature. Any other user who is not a paying club member will have the "Guest" moniker applied to your current bulletin board recognition title. Thus, anyone with 0 to 29 posts will be labeled "Guest Junior Member." Any user with 30 to 99 posts will be termed "Guest Member." Any user with 100 or more posts will be termed "Guest Senior Member." These titles may be changed in the future to better reflect the true nature of one's membership, but for now, if you see the word "Guest" in front of your title, you are NOT paying dues and are enjoying the benefits of this bulletin board for free.

Please understand that it costs money for us to run this forum and a lot of people take benefit from it. If you are a regular user and not an ACMOC member, you should really think hard about joining the club to support the cause. We rely on continued membership to bring these benefits to you. When you join, you not only will have your title upgraded to "ACMOC Member," but you will also receive a years worth of our great ACMOC Magazine. You also receive discounts on merchandise. Why wouldn't you join? There are several levels of membership with one-year and three-year options.

This has been coming up from time to time.
If you have had multiple address's used in the past this is where the problem lie's.
The data base is basically grabbing the first email mail address for a member on the BB, if it is not the one associated with your ACMOC membership you are being marked as a Guest Member.
It is an fairly easy fix once the office is notified, I'll have them change your status back to member, they may contact you and ask which email you would like to be using.
If anyone else has had this happen contact the office either by email or telephone for a correction.

I have a question on the section down below "what's going on"
it lists the number of users, and gives the number of members and of guests---I am a guest member but am listed under members, so is there two different groups of guests??

I believe it is because you make donations to ACMOC and do not get the magazine. You are bumped in manually because of your support of the club.

Thanks Pete--I guess everything is a bit more complicated than the assumed face value, like the revenue from the ads and this sorting of membership. What do the guests listed in that section actually have access to on the forum?? Can it be answered in 2 sentences or less??? :confused2::noidea:😖mile:😖mile:

well with this new forum i thought the disparity would be corrected but i am still listed as a member at the bottom of the bulletin board and it uses the title of guests instead of the new registered boarder??

i agree with pete. if content was restricted many people simply would go away and have the impression of well their a bunch of snobs and dont want to share or help anyone and prehaps some valuable knowledge and experience would be lost to the community.
the website and forum is the public face of the club and its important that it is inclusive and welcoming to others and who knows maybe those guests might just become financial members of the club just as i did. it is still possible to have a club members only section this of course would require extra programming and cost.

prehaps a prompt to guests every lets say 5 logins, posts or 10 topic views to make a donation lets say a dollar or become a full club member. this would help cover costs.
most people would happily donate a dollar to something, many community events in my country have a gold coin entry donation (our $1 and $2 coins are gold coloured bronze)
most people give $2. the mint has even released a special $1 coin called the donation dollar they are putting in circulation 2 for every Australian, the idea encourage people to give more often.

I would think that would be way too cumbersome for guests to use---either your in or out for only 40 bucks!

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
