I'm guessing that's the "ball" that goes on the bottom of the release bearing yoke. I'm also guessing that it's a leftover from a prior clutch job because I'm not sure that could come off without pulling the clutch out. I stand to be corrected however.

Hi, 49D73t.
I'm with Bruce P on this one, although for another reason. I suspect that it would be pretty much impossible to either adjust the steering clutch or get it to operate with that ball missing in action.

Aye dew stand 2 B kee-wreck-ted.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

47D73t, was your steering clutch bad out of adjustment? I would think that if that pivot ball was missing it wouldn't make it slip, but rather the opposite. If you were able to get it adjusted and it's working alright I'd say chalk it up to interesting things found in a clutch compartment.

I found a real nice 3/4" end wrench in a D4D steering clutch once. Found a cold chisel in the bottom of a 9U tranny when I changed the oil, neither were left by me by the way lol.

It was maybe 1-1 1/2 full turns put of adjustment so i suspect a left over. Still has paint on it.
