Need a little guidance. I am trying to get a set of manuals for my 1938 5J813 D2 dozer. I have been watching Fleabay for a week+ and see a lot of manuals but they are primarily for the U-series.

Are the engines (Pony & Main) close enough that a U-series manual would show how to maintain the engines as well as tear down and rebuild them?

Also looking for a good manual on lubricating all the clutches and other resivoirs.

Any guidance is appreciated.
Thank you,

Its best to wait until a J series manual that covers your serial number shows up somewhere.

5J and 5U engine is a lot different regarding where you put the oil in, drains, water pump service, etc. Then in the shop manual the difference is greater yet. The chassis on a 5J isn't all that much different from an early 5U. I have a 5J tractor and a 5U engine running stationary. The 5J book has been just about useless on the 5U engine. hang on. The right book will turn up.
