Had a great visit from a fellow bulletin board member today. We had lunch, looked over the Harris, and plowed a little sod. I must say, the 9G is a pretty nice ole horse. Five bottoms are no sweat.

Enjoy.

Greg you are correct. I have another 5 bottom that has a hitch so you can hook another plow onto it. Dad pulled a 5 and a 4 that way with his D4E. Perhaps a demonstration is called for....

Thanks Bruce for the turn on the 9G. Having never pulled a plow before, that too was something new.

I'm impressed with the pristine condition of the Harris and how little wear it exhibits. It runs unbelievably smooth.

Thanks again for giving your time and lunch from a busy schedule.

For a long time (related to my life anyway) we pulled 6 bottom plows. They were a problem because the roundness of the hill would cause the center bottoms to run deeper. Then in the late 50's I guess it was Green Giant that first did it, we found that a 5 and 4 could be pulled with the same effort as a 6 bottom.

The 3 cyl and TD 35 and 40 were always 5 bottom, but the 9U's were usually 6 bottom. I ran a 4R in the Spring of 58 and I think it was a 5 bottom also.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
