I've actually seen this video before, those are some formidable machines for sure. My dad remembers seeing one of those machines around this area back in the '60's. It was being used to clear land for cattle farming between the towns of Sandstone and Duxbury, MN. He said that they actually got the machine stuck in a big muskeg swamp and the only way they found to get it out was to haul old junk cars to the site and get them as close to the machine as they could. They would then attach chains from the cars to the big wheels of the machine and as the wheels spun they would pull the junk cars under them to help "fill the hole" and gain a little traction. That machine pulled several old cars down into the swamp before it finally got enough grip to come up and out, and to this day those old cars are still buried out there somewhere.

Big and bold that's for sure, not real practical tho. What's the point in just pushing the timber down and running it over?
