Where to start????

If you recall I was cleaning out the coolant system started with radiator and cleaned fins ect... Decided to take the transmission cooler and engine oil coolers out... Posted pics of the transmission/torque converter cooler... Truly clogged....

Well I went ahead and got after it and cleaned it and it seems I cleaned it to well.... I installed everything back with new gaskets ect... And wouldn't you know it The engine coolant thank god I just added water. It would not fill then I noticed a leak around by the starter... I did not think anything of it and said okay will get to that and fix the leak... Well took off the floor plates and tracked the leak I saw down and didn't think much of it... Well lets see the leak was the bottom transmission metal hose.

Umm that is no good.... Even further insult to injury if my transmission was flooded with water so was my torque converter.... Geesh this is a tough one....

Seems like I might have been to aggressive with cleaning out the core of the converter... How hard is it to damage? It was truly clogged... Any suggestions on where to get a new one??? Lastly, I just changed the transmission oil not to long ago if you recall.... I just can't cut a break.... Well I think just to be safe I will replace the engine cooler as well.... That is not expensive compared to the transmission cooler... Your thoughts is appreciated....

With the age and not knowing how the tubes are[rotted/thin] best to replace it, good insurance.

Two cores, 8S3637 and 1S6762, about $1,200 looking at Regal's prices.

Thanks Old Magnet.... I went ahead and ordered them... Not going to chance it going to drain engine oil as it is needed and replace both coolers.... Just want some damn seat time.... I know I will get there just being a little bit impatient at this point...

I went ahead a changed out temp gauge to a single gauge Cat of course...

I only have what I believed to be a transmission gauge but upon further inspection it is attatched to the torque converter... Any idea why I do not have both? Just trying to make sure we are all set once I put the new coolers back in.....I cleaned up real good the torque converter and transmission under the floor boards... I was planning on dropping the underbelly pans to get that good and cleaned out and tidy.... I did it for the engine and it was a mess... The last thing I don't want is a fire after all this.... And yes I have a fire extinguisher.... It looks like the belly pan for the transmission and torque converter is hinged at the rear... Mine seems to be broken as the center of the belly pan is missing and the rear bolts is broken at where it would hinge... Oh the joys of D9G ownership... I love her but it has been a rough one....

There is a few different oil coolers over the years, make sure you get the right one.

Unfortunately mine is the oldest type and as far as i can find not available new anymore. I can put the later type on but need the different brackets and pipework to plumb it all up.

I should keep an eye out for a spare though.

Radiator fan was the same but we managed to Frankenstein it with some D9H parts.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
