At one time I remember finding on this site the book Caterpillar published about how to build hitches for attaching multiple implements to crawlers.  For some reason I can't find it now.  I would like to look at the diagrams for hitching multiple plows together.  Thanks!

The book is still in the library. It is 45 from the end. Implement hitches is the name Form 9996  I may be able to help some also. I built a tandem hitch for my D47U last summer. 3x14 lead plow and 2x14 tail plow both rope trip. Pulls the 5 perfectly.

You are correct Kirk, screen shot below. I have added so many documents over the last year I've forgotten about most of them !

I'm well aware of what happens when you do that!  No personal experience for me but working in an ag dealer I've seen and repaired to results of others.

I appreciate the offer.  I have built a couple that were copies of Deere and IH hitches.  I want a variety of different hitchs for the tractors we take to shows.  Current plan is to have several for the Rantoul show next year ranging from 6 to 11 bottoms.  I would love to see pictures of yours!

I have just added a new (well dated 1930 but new to the library) interesting Caterpillar document on Hitches for Agricultural tractors thanks to Doug Hagan for providing the scanned copy.

Hi, Folks.
I once coupled up two 14 disc one way disc plows by simply hitching the rear one to the back end of the front one. I did have to move the draught point of the front one toward the land side of the plow to counter the extra load on the rear of that unit but the system worked like a dream and was lighter to pull than a beam hitch for the same job.

I built a hitch point on the rear of the front plow with a rack of 5 holes to hitch the rear plow to.

Just my 0.02.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
