Hi folks: Sometime back, I had inquired about the cab that was on one of my D4D tractors. In a recent search for more iron, I came across what appeared to be an almost identical one on a tractor posted for sale. I managed to see a decal which read "Upshaw Tractor Cab Co.", I am almost certain that is what is on my machine. Upon further snooping, I sadly came across the gentleman's obituary. Kenneth Upshaw? Sadly it read that he had passed away back in 2012 at the age of 79. He was from around Colfax, WA.
I am wondering if Bruce P. or any of the Washington state locals knew this man?
Curious as to how many other brands of aftermarket cabs were out there in WA, OR and ID. Mine is basically glass doors/windows with a heavy vinyl top. No frills. Didn't know if there were any other versions of mine, say with AC, heater, pressurized, etc.
I am not used to having anything but open air and on occasion, an umbrella.(waiting for the club to sell covers hint, hint). JM

Hello Juiceman, would love to see pictures of your Upshaw cab. I live near Colfax and knew Ken for years before his passing. I think that he made cabs during the winters as a side business to his farming. His son is still living in the area and I will try to learn a bit more about the cab manufacturing. I was able to get a toy TD24 and HD7 with Baker blade from his estate sale, also still have model 70 McCormick plows that they used in their farming operation that I play with with my old crawlers. 17afarmer, do you live near Colfax still? Thanks, Mike

Some old photos of the tractor with “cab”. I’ve worked in blowing cold before, so I’m sure these were a treat to have. JM

Blowing Cold in California ? are you sure about that lol. there seems to be a lot of small guys that built cabs up here for tractors as well as scrapers. most cats before the 1970s don't seem to have anything for a cab just homemade rops or more likely tree protection.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
