I seen a restored 15 setting on a parked gooseneck in Colorado a month ago at a truck stop that had about an 1-1/2" thick of what looked like old gravel conveyor belting bolted to the pads. No truck was hooked up so the person was not around to find out any information. If I had more sense than hindsight I should have taking a picture. It looked unused when I seen it. Maybe the owner is a BB frequenter and will chime in on if it was successful. One thing about old belting, it is cheap or free for replacement costs.
I've seen them with wood bolted on, works fine.
Even took the snowplow and Oak blocks off a high TEN that came from Montana.
Owner said most times the weight was enough to allow him to snow plow his black top driveway.
In my Opinion,
Worked for him, should would for you!
My first Cat, the 2 Ton had hardwood blocks fitted and they worked fine though just remember they are not super durable, uneven and rocky ground will start to crack them. The coach bolt heads were counter sunk too, I still have some unused spares here I could photograph later when the sun comes up if you wanted.

Mike
Check out the cover of the latest issue of ACMOC magazine. Gary's Fifteen is on the cover with a set of my rubber pads.
Is this what you are looking for?
Thanks,

Thanks for the reply's. I might try the wooden pads. This Cat has seen the hard work in it's life and probably will have it pretty easy for the duration. I can get some clear hickory easy and can work with wood better than metal, it will be stored inside, and after a very through restoration, am ready to quit spending so much darn money on it!!! Thanks again, M
I made up wood pads for my 29 Cat 15 two years ago out of oak. We do several parades a year and really have had good luck with them. Rubber pads would be great but these 60 blocks didn't cost me anything but a little time in the shop. My cleats are 1 1/2 high and made the pads 2", so when I wear them down I will make a new set.![]()
Thanks for the replies. I think I will use hickory and plane down to maybe 1/2" higher than the growsers on the track. Countersink the bolts, and bevel the edges. M
How much did the rubber stock cost?
