I have searched the forum and had no luck finding much about a throwout bearing for my J model 22. Has anyone replaced theirs and if so, where did they get the bearing? Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks,
John

j,

I just picked up a throwout bearing for my 15 through these people-http://www.locateballbearings.com/. They ended up sending the order twice so now we're working on that problem. I had taken the old parts I found in the bottom of the case to Kaman and they were not much help. Someone here on the forum was able to provide the New Departure number which I gave to Locatebearings and bingo, they came through. The case has to be machined slightly but otherwise I'm in business. Hope this helps- Jan

The bearing, 4B3665 crosses to Fafnir 209K, Federal 1209, MRC209S, etc.

Looks like a common bearing.

John, have you tried your CAT dealer? I replaced mine recently. I thought it was from CAT, but will try to check my records tomorrow.

I see that this bearing (4B3665) is listed at http://www.joseph.com/Parts_list.asp?Brand=Caterpillar&Class=Bearings+-+Auto+Trans

This bearing is still available from Cat. I think it was around $45.00.

Wow, thanks everyone! I have a good Case IH dealer close by and they can get any fafnir bearing. I will take that part number to them. I see some of you recommended a local CAT dealer. Last time I asked for something on my 1937 22 they acted like I was nuts. " we cant get anything for something that old" they said. Thanks for all the replies I will try to post some pics of the restoration as I go. This forum is AWESOME!

John, the Urbana store still has the microfich just behind the door in the parts warehouse. I look at them periodically myself. When I replaced my 22 throwout bearing, the Cedar Rapids store had several in stock. A lot of the parts are common and still available. The problem is if you get Don up there he is too lazy to do too much but find a sandwich. Greg and Kenny both know how to use the microfich and will look it up if you ask them to.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
