This tractor is the "6G" series Thirty, it was first built in 1935 and was officially renamed the R4 in 1938. The serial numbers for this tractor started at 6G1 and the last known production Thirty was 6G788, however the exact number of 6G Thirty tractors is unknown according to my Caterpillar serial number guide. The R4 tractors carried the same serial number designation and the first officially recognized R4 tractor was 6G930, so somewhere between #6G789 and #6G929 was where Thirty production stopped.

catten, Yes they did make a newer version of the THRITY from 1935 to 1938. They made 930 of the 6G THRITY machines. They continued making the same machine renamed the R4 from 1939 to 1944. They were all made in 44" and 60" gauge. Both the THRITY and R4 carried a 6G serial #.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
