I had the chance to run the D6XE down in Vegas at Trimble Dimensions the week that this tractor was released. It is a powerhouse!

Cheers

Why the need for electric drive when you are still driving a regular transmission, steering system and finals?
Just seems like an extra component to the power train.

Hi, Glum.
I sorta got the impression from the video that you have the option of either a standard powershift transmission with normal diff steering or the electric drive system connected to diff steering rather than steering by varying the speed of the electric drive motors.

Or maybe my aging hearing aids - those large, wrinkly flaps on either side of my head - fooled me again.

Just my 0.02.

I think I heard option 1 was power shift (with lock up torque converter) and differential steering.
Option two was the electric drive with electric drive motor steering. Anybody know for sure?

At 2:34 he mentions that they tie it together with a traditional differential steering system.

OK, seems odd but I guess it is so. Thanks

I hope the D6XE is a nicer machine to operate than the D7E. I liked the power of the 7E but thought it very rough compared to the 7R. And while I like fast hydraulics, I thought they were too fast. Unless using grade control, then they would shine.
But the XE looks like it should be similar to the 6T so I'm guessing it will be a winner.

My guess is that the hydraulic speed is completely adjustable to operator input as it is the D7E. On them you can vary your hydraulic speed and even separate up blade speed from down blade speed. Same with forward and reverse machine speed. The D7E I played with for 4 hours was a very early one when they first hit the dealers.

O.M. It seems odd to me also that they would run a differential instead of a drive motor on each track. Seem like using a bunch of not needed components.
