Today we got the chance to recreate some photos that were taken by Caterpillar in 1936 to promote the 20,000th Caterpillar Diesel.  We were fortunate that the local tractor club has a 16ft Avery combine like the one shown in the original photos.  Thank you to Dave Tallon for sharing today's pictures

Hi, CRS93082.
In'trestin'. Cat built their FIRST diesel engine in 1931 and their 20,000th in 1936. Thatsa LOTTTA engines in 5 years back in those times.

In'trestin'. Cat built their FIRST diesel engine in 1931 and their 20,000th in 1936. Thatsa LOTTTA engines in 5 years back in those times.

Great effort. Looks like a lot heavier crop than 1936 cheers WF

I agree.  What is really interesting to me is that it took 4 years to build the first 10,000 and a year to build the next 10,000.  It really shows how fast diesels were taking off.
