That dozer compared to the Cat D9.I would think that the weight would be around 100,000 pounds.Good Luck.

The bare 82-40 tractor weighs 62,000 lbs, and equipped as stated, it will come in around 80,000 lbs.

Hi, Ethan.
The Terex 82-40 was more a match for the later series 270hp Cat D8H than the D9 - somewhere around the 32 -35 tons mark. Check this link:

http://www.equipmentwatch.com/Navigation.do?product=SNOL&categoryName=Crawler+Tractors&subTypeId=3&subTypeName=Standard+Crawler+Dozers&manufacturerName=Terex&manufacturerId=2907&modelInstanceId=404&modelInstanceName=82-40

They were/are a noisy beast but still a pretty solid, reliable dozer and not altogether user-UNfriendly either. I quite liked running the only one that I ever got my ample butt on.

If you ever have to replace the track chains, you may have a bit of a problem. I seem to remember that they were 8" pitch links and that pitch is pretty much like hen's teeth and rocking horse manure these days. There are quite a few early Cat D8 - pre-14A - owners out there with the same issue and the solution for them is to fit the later 9" pitch 14A track chains and change the sprocket rings to match.

There is a bloke living not too far from me who has 2 of these jiggers, one a runner and the other not far off being a runner - unless he filtches more parts off it to keep the runner going.

Hope this helps.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
