I suggest you do just that.
Take it off line and open it with a plan of attack, including open dialogue with forum members as to how the objective should be achieved and what members expectations are on the subject. Then formulate a plan as to how to get it accomplished. Next would be a request for resources to get it done.
In order to get help, request for specific needs should be described. Just getting someone recruited to dump on is not a form of management.
I think that this is great especially because I'm typically on the receiving end of wisdom on the BB : ). We (the forum members including the board) should discuss and experiment with what works, and what is less-than-optimal and be prepared to adjust along the way.
Here are some considerations for what/how to post (by the admins) [and I put these forward for some basic structure but not because we want to make this a total bureaucracy : ]
- introducing a new topic e.g. how to determine that should be listed in the technical library
- possibly structure by topic e.g. Techniques (e.g. how to remove a master pin), Specifications (e.g. rail wear limits), Temporal changes (e.g. the serial # and date at which wet clutches became std in Dx)
- format of postings e.g. a) what it's about, b) which machines it applies to, c) the information d) corrections
Cheers,
Neil.
