I don't know about mileage but the Rollag show has a couple. It is by Detroit Lakes.
are any for sale
I know where there are a couple steam cranes and shovels they would be a little beyond 250 mikes from there. They are located in southern WI. As far as I know they are not for sale either. One is nearing the end of restoration. Better than new a real show piece.
IF YOU EVER READ mike mulagan and his steam shovel i want one like Mary anne
You want something like a Erie B. The 150 Operators Union in IL has two also not for sale.
brownvile in Pa has a nice one as well. but i would not say it's for sale ether. most are at museums now not meany left in the wild but there are some.
i don't have much money so it has to be close to home
not saying it can't be done but they ant cheap to fix up or keep around as the boiler work is costly. you need MTR for all your piping and valves. do you have a steam ticket? most place you have to have a licence to run the boiler/ machine. not sure if they fall under engine or train. there a lot more to them then just building a fire. keep us posted on your hunt. p.s. i am by no way a steam guy just hang around a few.
In MN you need your historical boilers license to operate. Transportation is the LEAST of your costs.
