Sharing a photo from Mikey Meyer Jr., of Mike Sr. and a former D4C of mine getting a workout before it rains in Sonoma County. Originally I bought the CAT from Dan Peterson (neither of us worked it). Since buying it from me, the Meyer’s have put it to good use. It replaced an IH TD-6, which Breadler sweet talked me out of.

Looks like I sold another D4C, and it goes to Andy Stein. No worries here, still too many machines here. I just soon see many of them get good homes and get a workout, rather than tucked away in the dungeon.

The Meyer’s used the Dakota blade to take out some apple trees I believe. Pulling the Allis Chalmers 3 shank chisel is definitely a load.

You fellows are very nice about not "labeling" me LOL. The "Hoarder" status or award will be bestowed upon someone(s)else we know soon, please stay tuned. Hah! (I can hear the anticipation growing now, but it wont discourage some from gathering more iron).

I will admit that I have been VERY fortunate to build up a small selection of iron here, but the friendships along the way are priceless, much more meaningful to me than some of the stuff I have gained.

The majority of times I have sold something was because someone had a need and asked nicely if I could provide them a solution. It has always been nice to hear from the new owner how well something is performing and how their lives are much easier having the right or better machine to use. I say each machine has a story, even after it leaves, it continues (all good ones of course).

Enough of my blathering. Please share some photos of what you might be doing! JM

Today’s rainy day activity. Unseasonable spring rain reeking havoc on some of the cherry farmers and put a damper on the rice planting.

I remembered having a pump guard somewhere, so today it went on a D4. As always, a 30 minute job took longer. This is the 2nd guard that I had to rig up without welding on “ears” like some folks have.

Sparky 2010 helped. This is the machine he lounges on during plow days.

Another angle. I think I will tidy up the drawbar pad and fix the tailseat some. I did some mods to the 44 levers; tempted to install a spare surge tank in case I have the urge to pull a 40 scraper with it.

Some might find this offensive 😝.

Somehow, I’ve managed to create quite a collection of tail seat/ orchard crawlers.

Dose the 5 roller undercarriage make any difference in how high it will launch you ? I don't have much experience with air time, but it is still enough. A 5u D2 with tool bar blade came close when I was not expecting it. No tail seat involved. Had another incident latter the same day when I thought I was ready .A 9u D6 fits me much better.

D4 tail seat with a scraper, that sounds like a great attraction for us kids in the sand or clay box:)

Ray54 - that 5 roller D4 is the smoothest riding tailseat machine I have ever planted my backside on. I can honestly attest to the ability of a tailseat to launch one - nothing can prepare you for the red hot manifold staring you in the face as you put fingernail marks on the gas tank of a Thirty when putting "checks" up with a disc ridger under the seat! Juiceman - you are going to get us both in the "deep stuff" regarding the "sparky" lounge chair! Forgiveness might be a long time in coming for one photographer? Happy to see the pump guard, something that is needed on a D2 not too far from you, hint hint. - cts

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
