Looking for proper spark plugs for a 1951 and 1952 Caterpillar pony Motor. I heard that resistor plugs are hard on Magneto motors. I have old cat parts book and spark plugs are 2A364 3. The one that are in there now are Autolite 124. Don't know if there the right ones. I found some D16 Champion but I believe they are too large thread. Like 18MM and I need 14MM thread. Can someone help. Thank You

From memory, the later heads take a smaller plug. Will look later if no one chimes in first

Should be champion d16 or equiv. 18 mm and are at a angle in the top edge of the head, maybe you have the later heads ? these have the plugs
in the middle of the head and stick straight out and are 14 mm thread champion L10 or equiv ... hope that helps ..

When I put new plugs in, I went to NAPA. The only "Usual" plugs they had were resister plugs. They did have lawnmower plugs that weren't resister, so that is what I used. Seems to work fine. They also didn't have "Wire" wire. So a friend that does industrial boilers gave me some wire that he uses for the igniters. Super high temp with copper stranded wire. The mag should be happy with both low resistance wire and plugs.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
