Anybody have a source for the rubber boots that go around the gear shifters on D4 7U and 933 11A. Cat tells me they are no longer available with the part number I have. I try to cover the gear shift if I have to leave outside for a night, but I would like to find the rubber boot so I don't have to worry as much about water getting in the transmission. Thanks for any help.

We took our old one into car quest and they found one that is a CV boot that worked pretty well but can't remember which car it fit.

I replaced the boot on my D4 7U a year ago and Cat didn't have any problem finding 'em. My advice would be to go to the oldest parts guy and have him look it up. As I recall, price for the boot was around $25 at the time. I just looked at my parts book Form UE032504 and the most common number for the boot is 8F8079.

The price I got from Alban tractor here on the east coast was about 60 bucks
for the boot for my D6. I cant remember the number for it right off the top of my head. Jason

Cat still has them. Just got one for $41.12. part number is 8F8079.
Make sure the rest of the mechanism is OK beneath the boot, not rusted out. Cheers, Larry.

Don't forget to also order the "O" ring that goes in the top groove of the boot. Part no. is 3B8453. It just seals the boot to the shifter a little tighter. Cheers, Larry.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
