Greyhead - A rough Twenty Two in the condition you describe seems to go for around $500-$750. It sounds like you better not look too hard, you might find EVERYTHING that's wrong with it. The list you provided doesn't excite me .. but, hey .. we've nearly all got rose-tinted glasses, when it comes to old Cats .. 😄

Complete is good .. sitting for long time is bad = stuck engine, most likely. Steering clutches "feel good" means nothing to me, unless I can work and run the tractor. Dry rollers = likely need to rebuild rollers. Rails look worn? .. then, they most certainly will be in poor shape, once you run the tape over them .. the tape doesn't lie .. 😊
Looks rough? That turns most people off, very quickly .. unless they find new undercarraige and a rebuilt motor, under the rough appearance .. an event that happens about as often as a solar eclipse .. 😄
Missing side panels? There's lots more tractors with missing side panels than there ever will be with them. They got torn off, thrown aside, and run over, at the first opportunity, most times .. 😞

Overall, I'd say you will be looking at a lot of work. Read - a near full restoration. You price in, the blood, sweat, tears, skinned knuckles, the $$'s, the parts hunt, and the long hours to get it back into nice shape .. then compare it, to buying one running, in good order .. and you'll find that a little above scrap value, is about the right value, as it stands.

Well I went over to look at the 22 after nosen around the right side final had been welded up and showed signs of oil leaking😞 So I will have to find another🙄 thanks guys for all your input.

Hey before you just walk away, if you can get it cheap, and plan to work on another, a parts machine is always nice to have.

And you can sell the parts you don't need to the rest of us, to finance your project...

CS I thought about that very thing but 900.00 was as low he was willing to go. he stated scrap would bring more(that statment was like nails on a chalkboard)

Call his bluff. Scrap is not worth beans right now. But some old guys just wont part with anything for a reasonable price.

I will argee with equipdriver call his bluff. Scrap metal here in Prince George,BC today is worth a whopping 40$ per ton. My 2 cents.

I'm with the last two-

Tell you what, make him a deal- you will pay him TWICE what the scrapper will, and YOU will personally haul it down there with him!

This of course assuming that the scap yard is within a reasonable distance, and scrap value figures out to about $120!!
