Hey Gang,

I got word that a D6-9u and a D8 -14a went to our local scrap yard. I called and asked them to wait until I could get there. I went to look and found a D7-3t instead. Close but not the 6 and the 8 as reported. It was sad to see how they unloaded it with a claw. The canopy smashed along with the hood, manifolds, CCU, and parts broken from unloading it. Sad, very sad. I didn't see much worth trying to save, saddened, I decided to leave. Walking out I saw a radiator and shell off a D-4 with a #44 hydraulic unit and guard, but it too had been broken and smashed by the mighty Cat Claw. Man those claws were just bitting away at steel, like it was a hot dog or something.

That night I remembered that I needed a floor plate and maybe some fenders from the old 7-3t. I went back, but the yard man said, "already on the boat to China." I left realizing it doesn't take long for history to be forgotten. Munch, it's gone. I don't know, people laugh at me sometimes when they ask why I buy old stuff. I can remember how much grief I got from a few, when I bought the Cat 660, everyone kept bugging me saying,"what are you goin to do with that thing?" I would answer,"Preserve some history."

So, a couple of Partners in crime helped me scope out before the auction, and work on and load up after the auction, our latest save from the Scrap Man. I would like to Thank Jesse, and my brother Pat for helping preserving some history. This one was worth saving, in fact, I named it "Priceless"-glen

That looks to be one nice machine.I notice it appears to have a hydraulic tank and valve mounted on it.What was the purpose of it and how did they drive the pump as I see it has CCU's both front and back??

Hey Walt,

Jesse commented on the tractor, how little wear there is on the pedals. The look new, hardly any wear on them. I cleaned the hour meter glass so I could read it today, and was shocked to see it only has 1814 hours on it. I am not new to hour meter swapping, but from the wear on the pedals, I beleive it. I'll save a spot for you on the tractor, anytime you want, Walt. Can you make it the 2nd or 3rd week in July to California. We need help building a dam.-glen

Mighty fine looking old 3T. It's got the setup I liked best, a #25 CCU, a striaght blade, yep, had a few like that.

I see someonf whacked a piece out of the hardnose. Probably did that so they could make an inframe overhaul a little easier. I never did that. I just went after #1 first. Figured I was half done when I got #1 taken care of.
