What is necessary to convert my D2 rope start pony motor to electric start? I have seen an electric start pony motor on a 5U and was wondering if the starter and mounting bracket would simply bolt on to my pony motor (4U). I suppose I would need the flywheel with the extra grove for the belt also. Any differences in the pony motors that would prevent installing the electric start components? I just want to know if this would work and if so which parts would I need to take from the donor electric start pony.
Thanks,
-Joe

throttle and choke linkages are suppose to different too. starter switch needs tobe included somehow next to the mag switch. they did have a mechanically operated starter as to not need the electric solenoid or switch. i got a setup both ways too.

The housing is bolted on top intake and the sheild ass is the housing with the gear and puley and the breather is instaled in the housing 4f8466 and the trottle and choke rods are connected to the housing.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
