Hi Bb,

I would like to know if Cat stamped the part numbers onto the roller frames of both the D4 7U dozer as well as the 955 bucket loader, both made in the 50's. If so, please tell me where to find them. Thanks

Hi Ou,
I don't think they did. They did cast casting numbers into some parts and those numbers were usually fairly close to, but not the same as, the part number. For non-cast parts, back in the day I don't think they put any number on them but do stand to be corrected.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
