Nice model you have there, was this a custom built model or is there a kit available? A lot of folks here inthe US would like to have one...
If you don't get any answeres about the real machines, you should ask your guestion on these sites as well....

Yes, they are used without the blade, especially when used to pull scrapers. Otherwise, it would have to have a Cable Control Unit on both ends of the tractor, which some later models did.
Hope this helps!

Hello Alan, many thanks for the links!
The model you see thru the link in my posting is an 1/35 scalemodel kit from an company called Resicast and you can buy this kit from several hobbyshops.
The link in my first posting is from an hobbyshop how sells this kit,the kit you see thru the link is not an build by me.
This link takes you to the Resicast site the maker and seller of this kit:
http://www.resicast.com/
If you click on Full kits on this site(on the left side of that site)you wil find the model and the others I talked about.
You can order this kit also direct from them, they have also an D7 with an armored cabine, this version was used by the British in WW2.
And they have yet another dozer in their line of scalemodel kits and they also sell an ,,Rooter,, to putt behind the D7 Dozer.
If you have more questions about this kit let me know.
Greetz!
Jelle.
Thanks for the reply, I'll bet a lot of people will find that interesting. I looked for the kit you were talking about, I saw the armoured dozer, and what looks to be A D7 with a winch and angle dozer. I didn't see the others at first, then I saw the NEXT button!
I wonder if they have a US distributor....

Hello Alan,no thanks.
Thru this link in this posting you wil see on the righthand side of that site an couple of interesting picture,s.
And the 11th,12th and 13th picture,s are picture,s of the real vehicle with flatbedtrailer with dolly and Cat dozer I want to build.
Only with those picture,s is stated that the truck that is hauling the flatbed trailer with dolly is an Diamond T but this isn,t right the truck is an Corbitt or White 6X6 6-Ton Truck.
This is the link to the picture,s of the real thing I am going to build:
http://www.300thcombatengineersinwwii.com/wwii.html
(You can click to enlarge the picture,s on the site.)
I have more of these kind of flatbedtrailers with dolly and 6-Ton Trucks waiting to get build, one such rig is going to get an Excavator on the back of the trailer.
I have an 1/35 scalemodel of an 17/19 Ruston-Bucyrus Crawler Excavator, and that model is going on an 20-Ton Fruehauf Flatbed Trailer with dolly I have.
Only it is verry hard to find reference,s on the 17/19 RB Exacavator and the 16 and 20-Ton Fruehauf flatbed trailers with dolly.
But that is another story!

Jelle.
If memory serves me right, the old Corbitt trucks were built in Hendersonville, N.C., U.S.A.. I've only seen a couple of them in my entire life.
...and someone with more knowledge can check me on this, but I'd say that any D-7 in Europe in 1944 would most likely have been a 4T. You probably couldn't tell the difference between an early 3T and 4T anyway (light chassis/mainframe on both).
Here a pic from it in Cat colour.
Hoi Boely
Waar koop jij deze kits in Nederland?

You can buy Resicast stuff from several modelshops in the Netherlands, like de Lancier in Gouda.
http://www.stiwot.nl/Sponser/delancier/
You can can make an phonecal to this store and ask if they got it in stock and if not they can get it for you for sure.
De Lancier is an modelshop specialized in military scalemodels and they sel Resicast.
You have also the on-line modelshop de Mol Plasticmodelbouw:
http://www.plasticmodelbouw.nl/home
If the Mol doesn,t have it in stock you can e-mail and ask him if he wil order it for you.
I hope this helps!
Here is another nice picture of two Dozers in use by the US Corps of Engineers in WW2:
http://www.hq.usace.army.mil/history/Brief/08-construction/Ledo-lg.jpg
You see the Dozers in company with fellow heavy weights!
Thanks for the info,if someone knows more it is more then welcome!

Wespe Models also makes a 1/48 scale and a 1/72 scale version of the same tractor. I believe it is also in resin.
They also have a russian tractor with a cab that looks like a russian copy of an RD-8.
And this is an 1/35 resin scalemodel of an D6 Caterpillar:
http://www.plusmodel.cz/gallery/064/index_en.php
Was the D6 like this kit used in Europe in WW2?
