I have the service manual,, but I am posting to ask opinions from those that have experience actually doing the work.

I have a 955-12A and recently turning the machine is getting more difficult. I am considering changing the liners and wanted to know, how hard is it to do this without removing the seat and fuel tank?? there are two procedures in the manual, the second of which is to do the replacement through the inspection covers on the rear housing...

Thoughts???

if i do it the other way and remove the seat, fuel tank, etc... I will also have to remove the hydraulic reservoir and associated equipment.... a big job onto itself..

thanks in advance for your comments.

The most difficult bit will be removing the anchor pins through the case ahead of the final drive, clean the threads out in them and see if they will move first.

Rod,

I have a set of bands, Tag on them says 4K1327A. Don't know if they are what you are looking for. Have been on the shelf here in my storage trailer for quite a while.

I show 4K1327 to be a band assy. with linnings + 4K1327, 3A2254, 4K1330 which I assume are the band segments.......however, these numbers do not match the segments shown in the 12A parts manual.

Be prepared tp swear a lot. It is one heck of a job. I hope you're young and can twist your arms and hands in to some unconventional positions. But when the job is finished, you'll have a warm feeling of Accomplishment. Good Luck!!!

hector, you were going to check to see if you had a set of linings...

I checked my parts book and the "Lining Group" has a part number of 5H6031 and is said to consist of complete set of linings & rivets for one brake.

i checked a web site for cross reference of the part number and the matches are some variant of the one above.

thanks

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
