Original you can likely get used. Or, you can just buy a generic quarter turn from ebay or your local shop. Back off the gland nut and it will turn easier
I had a similar problem on my tank drain valve, I got it out and went to the hardware store got an all brass (vs plastic ball) ball valve and installed it. Works great. I put a plug in the end so i can exercise it every so often.
I for the life of me don't remember why I refused to put a plug in the tank drain ball valve?
I took the handle off instead!
I use my drain valves quite often to drain any condensation/water-just a very small amount each time
I dont think any valves have been turned on this Cat for a long time. I will see if I can back off the packing nut a little or just find a modern replacement. Grant.
If you put a little bit of heat to the valve and back off the gland nut, it should turn without too much persuasion, as Neil says. Myself, I like disassembling them, clean and polish the parts and reassemble with a little bit of anti-seize.
If you aren’t in a rush for an original valve, I can probably rummage one from my parts stash for you. PM me if you want one. JM
I installed this ball valve on my D2 over 9 years ago..........still works great.
Hope this helps....Bill![]()
I'm going through the same exercise on our 4R D6. Since we're using this as a working tractor and not overly worried about remaining original, I'm considering either going with a steel braided or nylon fuel line, in part because I want to use an inline fuel filter. Am I making a mistake by not going with a hard line?
The original steel pipe for the fuel line wont melt if the tractor gets a fire in the belly pan.
