I'm trying to sharpen up the look of my D2.Anyone have any ideas on how best to repaint the the black raised metal names on the sheet metal? An example would be the CATERPILLAR on the front of the radiator.Obviously one way is by hand using a small artists brush.

A great trick is to use the filter off a cigarette. Dab-dab-dab. I would suggest the cig be un-smoked, so as not to pollute the paint with all of those nasty chemicals. (I am not a smoker, can you tell?)😄

We use a small hard rubber roller from Home Depot. It's not a paint roller. I think it's for linoleum. Works great!

some of the hard rubber rollers are used for spreading ink on the old fashion type printing presses, they are called brayers sp?

I used a small artist paintbrush to paint the front letters and the whole time was thinking "There has got to be a better way". I am going to find and try the rubber roller method.

One Shot paint and the finger works very good.
I've done the foam, and small brushes. At least for raised cast letters nothing comes close once you get a feel for it. Just keep a wipe rag handy between dips.

I use the foam brushes most the time. I also use my Quills(a sign painters make of brush) and One Shot for none raised surfaces. Quills pull very nice in curves. Red Sable is a good lettering brush also.

I have a D2 3j with the metal name plates. I have recently repainted mine, and what I did was go down to Wallmart. In their "art section" pick up a paint pen, they come in various colors, and in no time I had all the lettering finished. Best of all the price was right.......they're not expensive.😊

Good luck,

Mike
