Well its ready to start, had to make a wrench to tear down the injectors,(50 spline 1 1/16)out of 8 injectors 5 were good, the 3 other are from the rusty clys and are toast., And I also had to machine a .265 crowfoots for the bleeders. The fuel is blead and will hit on all 4 clys but I want to take it outside. Don't want a runaway inside the shop might lose a brick wall. Plan to start it up dry and let it run a min or so to make sure there are no problems then I fill fill up the cooling system and let it run till it hits 180 then shut it down and check everything out. Transmission is filled with new oil, but the seat and all the tin is removed right now so there will be no test drive. I have checked the fuel rack, it shuts the fuel off on kill and gives all 4 clys the same amount of fuel on run with a flow test. Oil makes 30 psi at cranking speed and the decompression works. Plan to tie the steering clutches back and will tie the brakes forward. Am I forgetting anything?....WA7OPY

Is main clutch stuck or something? Normal good practice is every time you leave the seat, put transmission in neutral and engage main clutch. That way you know its in neutral and if anyone bumps the main clutch lever nothing will happen.

If you don't engage the main clutch every time, one day you might not put it in neutral and then a slip and grab for something might connect with the main clutch and away you go! Also having the main clutch engaged stops the pilot bearing turning. Those things usually get little love and may be showing the effects of no maintenance over 50-60 years and just waiting for an excuse to seize.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

You might not get it to 180 just running by itself - this series of engine ran pretty cold and only really came alive under load. Take the pipe to the intake manifold off so you can choke it with a board if necessary.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
